FULL-DAY PRE-K IS COMING TO B-P!! The New York State Education Department has awarded the Broadalbin-Perth Central School District a $596,830 grant that will fund a full-day pre-kindergarten program for up to 72 students starting this fall. Broadalbin-Perth will continue to offer a half-day class, for a total of 90 pre-K slots. “We’re very excited by this news, and we’re already working hard to get everything in place,” said Superintendent of Schools Stephen Tomlinson. “Once we finalize some important details, we’ll share more information with parents and the community.” According to a press release from Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s office, the full-day pre-K grant encouraged applicants to think creatively about their program proposals. Broadalbin-Perth’s program will include STEAM education with the use of iPads, interactive white boards, and 3D printers, as well as regular physical education programming at the Fulton County YMCA, including swimming instruction. Residents who have any questions about Broadalbin-Perth’s full-day pre-K grant should contact Terry LaFountain, director of curriculum and instruction/grants coordinator, at 954-2631 or [email protected].
