FULL UPDATE ON WINTER WEATHER!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please SHARE THIS UPDATE as it pertains to the SNOW and the winter weather conditions. I have lots of pictures from radar images, to sea fog (Ill explain that in a minute). I also have A LOT of warnings to go over Before anyone asks, it is not going to snow anywhere near Charleston. It is too warm and the rain we need has mostly moved out. The snow is mostly in the Midlands with up to three inches recorded in Lexington County. Even though I said above that it will not snow, we still cannot rule out some light flurries, or sleet. The snow is falling from the clouds where the temp is about -20° and melting into rain as it falls to the ground. Multiple reports have been coming in from West Ashley, Summerville, and Mount Pleasant of snow and sleet. Also the wind isnt helping much with the cold. in some areas the wind chill is 35° Now for the warnings: Freeze Watch: This lasts from late tomorrow night through Monday morning. This is for Allendale, Hampton, Colleton, and Dorchester counties. Temps could dip below freezing and kill sensitive vegetation. A freeze warning may be necessary, but this warning is 24 hours in advance, so we will know more by tomorrow. Freeze Warning: I will just say that it is for most of the state because there are too many counties to list. It lasts from 3:00 AM to 8:00 AM tomorrow morning. This warning is being issued because temps in the midlands will drop to almost below freezing tonight, and the high wind wont be any help either. Wind Advisory: This is currently in effect and lasts until 8:00 PM this evening. High winds could make travel dangerous and cause unstable limbs to fall from trees. Please be extra careful on the roads as you are driving. This is the earliest snowfall to ever happen in SC state history according to the National Weather Service. As far as I know, the snow is from about Atlanta, GA, to Boone, NC. Now for the pics. If youve driven across any of the bridges today, you may have noticed that the water is covered in fog. This is in fact called Sea Fog, and if you are actually planning to go out on the water on a day like this you need to be careful. There are also some satellite pictures and my own radar picture.
