FUN. Sheila E was my idol ♡ when young: m.youtube/watch?v=56gpwl6cohc Perhaps you understand... ;- ) See PRINCE with The Muppets: 3:55 he sings his less known song I use to hum in cafes. m.youtube/watch?v=r0MSi7Ldxnc Also he is from 1:15 as - a country man! :-D Theres more to Sheilas CV than knocking around with the little feller Prince. Sheila Escovedo was born 1957 into an unusually musical family. Her father Pete Escovedo and uncle Coke Escovedo, both percussionists, played with Santana. Another uncle is the acclaimed solo artist Alejandro Escovedo. Her godfather was the legendary Tito Puente. She began drumming at the age of four. By her late teens she was already an accomplished muso-for-hire, and her CV is a dazzling list. From playing on Marvin Gayes final tour, to MD-ing Performance At The White House: Fiesta Latina for President Obama. Over the years shes played with, among countless others, Diana Ross, Cyndi Lauper, Beyonce, Ringo Starr, Phil Collins, Stevie Nicks and Lionel Richie, with whom she refused to duet on Endless Love on the grounds that she was there as a drummer, not a songbird. And thats in addition to her career as a solo artist. Hear her drumming in her dazzling song performance, also in darkness: m.youtube/watch?v=efkS7NUFPDI These were the times when there were actual artists who played instruments in an extremely complicated and varied harmony, and there was a drummer who was constantly very employed and could not be replaced with a metronome boom boom boom machine. Like this, be amazed: m.youtube/watch?v=eLn3C82Loq4# Yes, and young folks could themselves dance, not just watch B-girls and B-boys making moves. :-)
