FUND SANCTIONED The government has sanctioned Rs.3.50 crore to undertake repairs on the highly-damaged Nagercoil- Kaliyakkavilai stretch of the National Highway 47. Labour Minister K.T. Pachaimal has said in a press release that the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) had not carried out any maintenance work on this 56-km stretch for the past 10 years. The NHAI had completed 90 per cent of the land acquisition process for the proposed four-lane work on this stretch. But funds had not been sanctioned by the Centre, he said.
