FUNKE EKANEMS STORY Stories are powerful. They are not only capable of inspiring and motivating us, but they also have a redemptive power in them; they are capable of changing someones life for good. This is the story of one of the most beautiful lady in the first company I worked as a marketing officer. I pray God that you will not only be blessed through this story, but it will also fine-tune you psyche so that you can adequately prepare yourself for the imminent return of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Funke Ekanem was born into a Yoruba family, but she resembles a half-cast. If I was asked to briskly described Funkes outward look, my response would be, she is a lady with a paragon of beauty. Funke told me that, when she was young she doesnt joke with her beauty. She was a pretty damsel at her young age. Though she was born into a Christian family, but she doesnt buy the ideas of Christian doctrine. Funke was more tough during her days in the University. One major problem of Funke was immodesty. Funke cannot do without wearing of trousers that would show off her body figure. Funkes parents warned her numberless times, her pastor did not mince words in sounding notes of warning too. But just like the dog that was destined to derail, she failed to listen to the whistle of the hunter as it were. Funke corked her ears to the warnings and admonitions of her parent and pastor. She did not believe in modesty. She did not believe in the doctrine that prevent female from putting on trousers, she saw that doctrine as a shibboleth, and she saw the admonitions of her parent as archaic. Funke particularly told me that there is no one on earth that could preach or say anything to her that would changed her way of dressing or her lifestyle. She believed then that it is only the heart that matters to God, she never believed that our outward appearance matters to Him too. Due to this, Funke became arrogant and insolent unconsciously. But one day the unbelievable happened! It was in the middle of the night, while Funke was sleeping, enjoying a nap, she dreamed a terrified and horrible dream. Let it be known to you that Funke never knew she was dreaming at that hour, she thought all that was happening was in reality. In her dream she saw the rapture took place. Oh, she saw that wonderful day Christian all over the world had been waiting for. Funke had been fed with the Word of God, so she knew what was going on. She told me how swift people were disappearing from the face of the earth. The event was as swift as lightning. It was faster than the twinkling of an eye. Funkes parent disappeared from her presence in a split of second. Funke dont know what to do, she tried to fly by herself, she did all within her power to join the saints that has gone to the azure above, but alas, she was unable. In the middle of that scenario,while she was trying to fly, suddenly an angel appeared to her. He told her that no matter how much she tried to fly she cannot make it, because she has been left behind. She then queried the angel, she asked how could she be left behind,her parents are Christian and she believed in God, but the angel told her because of her ungodly look. At that moment she was putting on trouser, the angel told her that nothing unclean would enter heaven, that she cannot enter heaven like that, then the angel left her. Oh, Funke wailed! Funke knew what she was in for. She knew she is doomed if she did not make it to the Marriage Supper of the Lamb. It was in the middle of her wailing and sobbing she woke up. It was then she realized she was actually dreaming. Believe me, that incident marked a new beginning in the history of Funke. She told me no one told her to pray and get saved. She saw her wretchedness. She realized beauty without Christ is vain. She saw that night that a life without salvation is a useless life.It is better for someone not to come into this world, than to come and then refused to be saved Oh, Funke saw how evanescent and ephemeral this life is that night! The next morning, she parked all her antic cloths and burned them to ashes. Oh, praised be to God! A hard-hearted heart now became a broken heart. Her highhandedness was now a thing of the past. She became a new soul, old things passed in her life and all things became new. I tell you, since then till today, Funke has never stepped her legs into wearing of trousers. Funke is now happily married to an Efik man, and she has a wonderful and lovely child. And it might interest you to know that Funke was one of the people that also stood by me in my difficult period. I will never forget the cloths and trousers Funke gave me. I still wear them till today. God used her to cover my shame. Oh, that is what our Lord can do. I will not also forget all the wonderful delicacies you usually bring to office at that time, I was just like her “Office pickin.” Oh, if you help me see Funke, tell her that I love her dearly. I wish to have a wife like her. Yes! I dont think I have anything more to write to everyone reading this. But allow me to include this: Let your mind bears you witness that you are serving God truly. Dont just have a mental acceptance and call it salvation, KNOW that you are saved! Oh my dear, dont be too intelligent to be saved. To be too wise to learn from people who God has shown mercy, you may not be lucky as Funke was. God is giving you another chance today. God is not and will never be interested in half-hearted service. Any breach of one of His commandment, it is tantamount to breaching all of Gods commandment. If you say you are saved, let everything about you point that fact that you are truly saved. God want your full heart and if you give it to Him, He will bless you exuberantly.
