~FURNISHING & DECORATING ON A BUDGET~ If you are a returning student who is “experienced” living away from home, or even a first timer, you will learn very quickly that living on your own can be very expensive. You don’t have your parents’ house to come home to every day after school anymore, but you might want to have a piece of that with you while you are away studying. Here are a few tips to help you get that home feel without breaking your bank; Browse the internet – sites like Craigslist and Kijiji often have great deals on furniture. They also have a FREE section where you can pick up items that might look fabulous in your new apartment. Ask your family – before you move out of your family’s home, ask if there are any pieces of furniture that you might be able to borrow while you are away. You never know, they may be looking to get rid of it, and who better than their own child to give it to! Shop at thrift stores – you can always find great deals on odds and ends like kitchen utensils, pots and pans etc. to stock your new pad for less than you may think. We hope this list is helpful for you to save money while living comfortably in your new home. Please visit our website at panadew.ca/tenant-services/tenant-resources to check out more resources available to you, including a Tenant Community board where tenants post advertisements for others in the Panadew Community to view.
