FUTA, Spanish Varsity, 4 others Partner on Food Research The Federal University of Technology, Akure, FUTA; University of Alicante, Spain and four other African universities have commenced collaboration on a food research project called Integrated Soil Fertility Management for Food Security: Matching Capacities in Anglophone West African Nations with Local Needs. The European Union, EU-sponsored project, which has University of Alicante as the coordinating university, is aimed at fostering capacity building and regional integration in Integrated Soil Fertility Management, ISFM, for food security in Anglophone West African universities. Other collaborating institu-tions are University of Ghana, Accra; University of D’Schang, Cameroon; Njala University, Sierra Leone, and University of The Gambia, Gambia. While speaking on the project, which has its Nigerian office at FUTA’s School of Agriculture and Agricultural Technology, SAAT, building, FUTA’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Adebiyi Daramola, said the research collaboration is in tandem with the drive by the university to continue to contribute meaningfully to evolving solutions to pressing societal problems.
