FWMBA AND CITY AGREEMENT EXPIRED OCTOBER 2013 Postby M2RIDER » Sun Mar 09, 2014 7:43 pm The following letter was sent to the City of Fort Worth attorney’s James Lacey and Marian Pardue, as well as, Mayor Betsy Price and Councilmen Danny Scarth and Dennis Shingleton regarding the renewal agreement between the Fort Worth Mountain Bikers’ Association (FWMBA) and the City’s legal department. James, I am writing you today to find out what is the status of the renewal agreement between the Fort Worth Mountain Bikers’ Association (FWMBA) and the City’s legal department? Our agreement expired at the end of October 2013. When I last heard from your office on January 15, 2014 regarding the agreement you said there was, “not an exact timeline I can give you as to when the agreement will be drafted and approved however I will do my level best to have it done as quickly as possible.” As you have been listed as an addressee in the letter written to the City by FWMBA, you are aware that Marsh & McLennan Agency and IMBA discontinued the general liability insurance coverage to FWMBA as of Saturday, March 1, 2014. FWMBA is in negotiations with several insurance carriers trying to secure a new policy. As part of the application process the insurance carriers are asking for copies of our license agreements with their land managers (in our case, the City of Fort Worth). Unfortunately, all I have from the City is the expired 2008 agreement. I’m concerned that in light of the new environment that mountain bike clubs like FWMBA are operating in the insurance carriers will not approve a club without a valid agreement. It is in the best interest of both the City and FWMBA to execute the renewal agreement as soon as possible. Although both the City and FWMBA are working with one another via a verbal agreement, technically the 2008 agreement is expired and FWMBA has no general liability insurance policy. In order to get back on track we need your office to set a timeline to get the agreement drafted and approved sooner
