FYI: From Nashville Police Department: President Obamas Visit Tuesday will Bring Intermittent Road Closures December 8, 2014 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE More than 140 Metro police officers will be assisting the United States Secret Service with security requirements Tuesday for President Obama’s visit to Nashville. The Metro police personnel will consist in large part of Traffic and Flex officers from various precincts who will spend their regular shifts Tuesday on the presidential assignment. Motorists are advised that the president’s travels in the city will necessitate brief closures of roadways between Nashville International Airport and Nolensville Pike, north of Thompson Lane, between midafternoon Tuesday into evening rush hour. Specific routes are not being disclosed for security reasons. Persons whose commute home takes them near the airport in the evenings may wish to consider an alternate route Tuesday. The Metropolitan Police Department supports the right of persons to peacefully protest. Those considering any type of peaceful protest tomorrow or in the future are strongly cautioned not to block neighborhood streets, major highways or the interstate. It is a violation of the Metropolitan Code and Tennessee law to obstruct a highway, street or thoroughfare. Those who do so are subject to arrest and could be held civilly or criminally responsible for any harm to others caused by their actions.
