FYI. I ended the Go Fund family fundraiser/ memorial for Nadia. I appreciate the person who donated and all those who wanted to. It took a lot for me to ask for help on behalf of my child but Im glad I did. It shows us where we stand and makes it that much easier to move on on our own. Nadia will not be attending college this fall as she is unable to apply for scholarships or financial aid without her dads tax return. Her stepmother refuses to produce them and we dont have the money to go the legal route and to obtain court order. Since Nadia was able to file a tax return this year she will be able to file for financial aid and scholarships next year. So, Nadia will put college on hold, for yet another year, so she can work and save up her own money. I will now be able to contribute as much as I possibly can after reorganizing my budget. I have stopped all of my allotments to charity organizations, some of which I have been contributing to for over a decade. I will no longer be able to help folks out with their animals, do transports, or be able to offer help to people for groceries or other emergency items, as I have in the past. The only allotment that will remain is to the local food pantry which Nadia and I both agreed upon. Instead, I will be placing these monies in a savings account for Nadia along with the money she has earned though her job. Although, I wish we would have decided to do this 2 years ago, its better late than never. Weve exhausted every avenue for help and assistance and its more than clear that this is our own personal responsibility. I dont have a doubt in my mind that Nadia will achieve everything she sets her mind to and take great pride in knowing she will work for every bit of her dream. Whether she studies to be a teacher or gets a degree in Peace and Conflict studies I take great solace in the fact that she wont ever join the military. Shell be the one in the family to break the long tradition of military service and, in turn, save herself from the pain of all the empty promises that go along with it.
