FYI! I received a phone call this morning about a warrant for my arrest, due to not taking care of a citation I had forgotten from January 2013 for Failure to Yield to a Stationery Emergency Vehicle. I was on the highway utilizing cruise control when I noticed a police cruiser sitting in the dark on the side of the road and actually maintained my velocity as to ensure safety. I was rather well-pleased with myself for not letting a cop car give me a panic attack. Still - the red/blue lights, familiar tightening of the chest, pulling to a stop, and becoming so nervous I could barely speak. A cop ordered me out of the vehicle, searched it and my person, interrogated me, and shouted threats - as is usually the case. This ended with a citation that is apparently the result of a significant crime - violating the “move-over law” of which I was never before aware. Said citation was gathered with my paperwork and never seen or thought of again. I now have 24 hours to pay a substantial fee or “an officer will be sent to pick (me) up.” Please do not let this happen to you. I believe you can find more info at codes.lp.findlaw/txstatutes/TN/7/C/545/D/545.157 *Note: The emergency vehicle does not have to be displaying lights, and the fine is greater than listed here...even if no property damage occurs. Drive safely, take care, and be aware! God bless you and the po-po too!!!
