FYI: I work close with this organization, group of great people/mostly educators. Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.s legacy runs both deep and wide--man of God, father, husband, scholar, activist, organizer. As we take this weekend to celebrate Dr. Kings life and legacy, NEW Caucus would like to invoke one of his most famous phrases as a call to action and a call to organize: Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere! The Newark 7, which includes 5 principals, an NPS parent, and a clerk at 2 Cedar Street, have all been pummeled with the fist of injustice! It is their civil right to speak freely. It is their human right to stand up on behalf of the children they serve. Although no one is safe, no one is alone either. We have the numbers on our side, but we have to get organized! Join us for our next organizing training session to be held in February. If you are at all interested in becoming an organizer with NEW Caucus: Reply to Leah Owens, email: leahzowens@gmail / phone: 862-234-5324 ***And if you want to get a taste of what organizing is all about, attend Abbott Leadership Institutes first class of the semester: How to Organize for Your Neighborhood School Step by Step Sat, Jan 25th, 10am-1pm / Rutgers-Newark, Conklin Hall Rm 100, 175 University Ave*** In Solidarity, Newark Education Workers Caucus (NEW Caucus)
