FYI Nov. 1st historical events; In 1512, Michelangelos paintings on the ceiling of Sistine Chapel in Vatican, Italy was exhibited for the 1st time. In 1800, John Adams became the first US president to live in the White House, after Washington became the U.S. capital. In 1870, the National Weather Service made its first official meteorological forecast. In 1968, the Motion Picture Association of America introduced the rating system: G, M, R, X. In 1981, Antigua & Barbuda gained independence from Britain. In 1982, Honda became the 1st Asian automobile company to produce cars in the US with the opening of their factory in Marysville, Ohio. The Honda Accord is the 1st car produced there. On Nov. 1st 1878, Argentine academician and politician, Carlos Saavedra Lamas, was born. In 1936, he became the first Latin American Nobel Peace Prize recipient. He was a successful foreign minister of Argentina because of his practical work in drafting international agreements and in conducting international mediation. He was also recognized as a professor in the fields of labor legislation and international law. An interesting quote of his is: What the United States does best is to understand itself. What it does worst is understand others. While the US was his focus in this quote, the statement can be attributed to many of us. We tend to justify our actions and thinkings but do very little to understand and appreciate where others are coming from. Not only is this approach selfish, it also often makes us appear very insensitive and uncaring. People dont care how much you know until they know how much you care - Phil. 2:1-3. Beloved, take some time to appreciate and understand others if you want to enjoy a good and lasting relationship with them - Eph. 4:1-3. You are ordained to reach people people with Gods love.
