You have to let them know tmr before 5pm, if you wanna go... ************************************* Dear Final stage and MSc students, One of our supporting organisations - The Shipping Professional Network in London - have invited 15 students from Plymouth University to join a visit to Teesport, the North East based port, owned and operated by PD Ports. PD Ports has invested almost £17m in infrastructure improvements at Teesport in the last 18 months and the trip will provide the chance to learn about the upgraded container terminal facilities and to see the port from the River Tees. You will then attend the networking event designated for the launch of their branch in the North-East, expanding the connection of the young shipping professionals from London and the South with those from North-East. This trip is of interest to all International Shipping and Logistics students, and to those on the Operations and Supply Chain/Logistics pathways of the MSc Business and Management. The dress code is business dress/smart casual and you will mix with young professionals from the shipping and logistics sector who are currently working in London. You will need a coat for the outside elements if the port visit. The trip will be free to attend, but the coach departs at 0830 from London and returns to London in the evening. You will need to travel to London on Thursday evening and travel back to Plymouth on Friday evening, unless you have friends to stay with in London. There is a night train that departs Plymouth to London Paddington that will cost around £80-90 (£45 train, £50 cabin) with a sleeper berth if you have a student railcard or £105 without a student rail card. I am looking into subsidising the cost of train travel for MSc Business and Management students and MAY be able to refund half of the journey cost. Students on other programmes will need to approach your programme managers to gain approval for subsidy of your train travel. Please keep tickets and receipts.
