FYI, The tilting pinion drive engagement is a design circa 19th century. Small gear of the pinion is continuously engaged with the movements fourth wheel. When the chronograph is started, the heart piece acts on the pinion arm to bring the bigger gear into engagement with the chronograph center wheel. Oscillating Pinion PN/8086 for Valjoux or ETA 7750 is probably the most common and easily breaking part in the entire movement. (does it need re-engineering in the future?). I took these photos by Canon Macro f/2.8 lens before replacing the pinion into my vintage timepiece Eterna Matic chronograph. Thank you for viewing, Bao
