FYI: The word educate comes from the Latin educere which means to lead or draw out. Therefore, true education is the drawing out of students what is within them. This concept is inline with African traditions across the continent where education is seen as the cultivation of learning from the spirit. The word teach comes from the Proto-Indo-European *deik which means to show, point out. Therefore, true teachers show and point out things to students. The Western concept of education seeks to pour information into the minds its students and does nothing to work on whats receiving and processing this information. There is no attention paid to the nutrition of the brain, the way it learns and retains information, the role of the spirit which is the 90% of the mental equation. Teaching and Educating is a dual process where 10% is external (teaching, to point out things) and 90% is internal (education, to draw out from within). We have 10% extuitive (teaching) and 90% intuitive (educating). In Africa, there is a common practice of cultivating the intuitive faculty of the spirit which is the connection to the omniscient aspect of existence. This process and concept is mistakenly referred to as the worshiping of a particular god i.e Orunmila (Yoruba); Tehuti (Kemet), etc. Another practice related to this is the common use of Oracles or Divination throughout the continent.
