FYI, Theres a new Economic & Employment Data Card that has just been released. It is such a lie that I refuse to even post it, so that I might show its absurdity. Sure Im employed and I absolutely love my job and I am very thankful for my job and benefits, but Ive spent about twenty months of the last three years unemployed. I make 12% of what I made just a few years ago. My wife has been unemployed now for 9 months and the only offers she gets is for 50-60% of what she was making and has made for years. She, just like I did, has applied for hundreds of jobs. Fortunately for us we dont have much debt and weve survived, but think of the millions of people who are now no longer even able to draw unemployment who have long since fallen off that Economic & Employment Data List, because they are no longer eligible to receive any benefits. I know of at least a dozen people, who are close personal friends, who use to make great money, had excellent jobs who are now currently in the 3-4 years without steady work status. These are people who find themselves overqualified and employers wont hire them. Or they find themselves only able to take jobs at 30-50% of the wage theyve earned for the last 15-20 years. The cost of living has increased substantially, but yet peoples pay has steadily declined. In the last two weeks Ive seen two families get split up, end up on the streets and become homeless. Middle-class people who have now lost their jobs and have now lost their children and spouses to homelessness. And if you add an additional two weeks to that and take us back to a month ago; I can add two more families to that list of people that I personally know. Thats a family a week. These are people who have jobs! There are millions out there who cant get basic jobs that will allow them to support their basic needs. Homeless shelters, even here in Forsyth County, extending outward to Guilford, Rockingham, Alamance, Randolph, Wake, Mecklenburg, Gaston, Patrick, Henry, Franklin and Roanoke Counties are packed to capacity and are turning people away every day. Pastor and I call all over NC and VA looking for shelters that can take people in asking if there are any vacancies and for the last year, the answer has been almost always, nearly 100%, No Vacancies. The homeless shelters dont have enough support, dont have enough space and they are finding themselves unable to feed many of them, because they dont have the support or food. Every night, even with all the shelters we have, many homeless are turned away to the streets because theres no room. Im not so aloof that I dont seriously consider that it could be myself or my family or closest friends that finds themselves the next homeless out there. Home and property values have plummeted. Millions have declared bankruptcy. Many foreclosures. So many people are having to take jobs at 30-50% of their pay-grade, just so they can feed themselves and their families. Many families and friends have moved in with each other, after maxing out every form of credit they have, in an attempt to keep things afloat until things got better, only to find out that it didnt get any better, that it was all in vain and they are now facing a mountain of debt, with no way to pay it back. People are still losing everything, simply because theyve tried to keep a roof over their head and have the most basic necessities. I know of countless multiple families living in the same households now, because they can no longer pay their bills and survive on their own wage. Yes this newest Economic & Employment Data Card is a lie! Elections are coming and I believe its time to go back to the basics and have a complete and total house cleaning. Senate, Congress, Supreme Court, Judges, IRS and all through the entire Oval Office extending to every area. A complete start over. I will end by saying that Im thankful for my family, my friends, my job and managing to survive thus far, but Im definitely not turning a blind eye to all that I see and I hate that I cant help more than I already do.
