FYI Vintage Fiamme Red 36 hole rim, 345 grams, MAVIC Ceramic sided Mach 2, 32 hole 485 gram. The Velocity Deep V is on the rear, 590 gram rim. Obviously, the newer rims forsake weight to get durability and aerodynamics. It seems that if you plan on using vintage stuff, you better know how to tune things up! The lightest Ive ever used, Pista 230 gram nisi rims with 175 Gram Continental tires. Then (1978 ) , the tire was around $75. I recently inquired about a similar Conti tire made today, $390 . I am playing with my new Topeak Repair Stand with optional scale tray and wheel hook, which arrived late yesterday. I am not a weight geek, lighter bikes dont necessarily make for faster riding or better race results.
