We need to reach our target of 67 companies, and as many walk-in volunteers as possible, to make this day a success.The IoDSA is supporting the initiative by donating funds & 67 minutes on Mandela Day for staff and their family to assist in this initiative.YouTube VideoAnnually, many thousands are made aware of the need for each South African to give up 67 minutes of their time to assist worthy causes on one day of the year in honour of Mr Nelson Mandela’s civil service.This year Stop Hunger Now Southern Africa has been graciously donated an exhibition hall at the Sandton Convention Centre. Executive Director, Matifadza Nyazema, made this happen. Given the expansive area of hall #2, we plan to reach out to 450 000 empty tummies belonging to children who attend schools in the rural regions of South Africa. According to the Children’s Institute, more than 3 million children under 17 years old experience household hunger in South Africa. The most severely affected area being the Northern Cape. "36% of children under 17 years old experience household hunger.” Now, more than ever, is the time to meet the challenge; It’s what Mr Mandela would want. If you could do good things for other people, you have a moral obligation to do those things. Not choice, Responsibility. What: Stop Hunger Now Southern Africa Packing event When: 18 July 2013 Mandela Day Where: Sandton Convention Centre Exhibition Hall 2 Companies are requested to donate R16 750 for their registration. This donation entitles them to invite 67 employees/clients to package 6 700 meals in 67 minutes. There are four shifts planned for the event; 09h00, 12h00, 14h00 and 17h00. Individuals are also welcome to attend, from which we request a R67 donation, and they will be allocated to a shift that may suit them best. Contact: [email protected]
