FYI, in light of several recent issues in the news and lack of communication to parents about those events, a small group of CityWide PTO representatives met with interim superintendent of schools last week (I was one of those representatives). The result of that meeting is that Dr. Argenziano posted an update on the Beverly Public Schools web site. Not thinking many folks surf to that site, so I am re-posting the note here for parents to see/read/share if they are so inclined: November, 2013 Dear Beverly Public School Parents, The past two months have been difficult ones for our neighboring school districts. Since tragedy dictates how we react, our school district has been meeting to discuss at risk students behavior. Meetings with our Nursing staff, Adjustment Counselors, Guidance Counselors, our Administrative staff, have begun to formulate an agenda for future meetings with parents, staff and students. We are all concerned about our social network and how students are using it as well as possible abuses. We need parental assistance in monitoring our students’ use of social networks after school hours. Our mission is to introduce responsible computing at an early age and improve society by helping kids learn how to protect themselves on line. We continue to meet. We continue to monitor “At Risk” student’s behavior at the elementary, middle and high school levels. We seek parental support to assist us in monitoring students outside of school. Your City Wide Parent/Teacher Organization has been a willing partner in assisting our office due diligence on this subject. I thank you for your attention. Sincerely, Albert F. Argenziano, Ed.D. Interim Superintendent of Schools
