Fables and parables often share something in common. A kernel of truth lies within them. Some more than others. One of the best known parables handed down through Jesus Christ is the Prodigal Son. A son requests and is given his inheritance early, leaves home, squanders it and runs into trouble. Eventually, in need and abject sorrow, the son makes his way home. To his surprise, he finds his father waiting for him with open arms. Full of joy. This is Gods story, told through His beloved Son. Our Father, our Abba, births us filled with every good thing we could possibly need. Our bodies a miracle of finely tuned balance and beauty. We are born into a world just amazing in its stunning beauty and bounty. If that werent enough, our Abba has promised us that we have a Kingdom to inherit, where life will never end. All throughout our history, Abba, our Father, has watched His children run away from Him, squandering their inheritance and ignoring His pleas to come back home to Him. We, His prodigal sons and daughters. Even though we know Hell take us back, we refuse His loving care. So now, there He sits... waiting. After thousands of years, how much longer do you suppose our Father will continue to wait?
