Fabulous interaction with a parent. In defence of his stereotype vision he asked me during an alternative career counseling session what NIFT as an institution has contributed to chennai? My answer was simple the engneering institutes are in tamil nadu for past 60 to 100 years... now we have more than 550 institutes.... so what problem have they resolved in the city? Why nobody developed cheaper lights, resolved power problem through alternative energy, resolved water problem, created a cheaper vehicle, resolved the traffic jam...... why have not any device being designed to stop rigging in election... the infamous cash for vote why not being stopped by designing a system... which medical insitute innovated cheaper medicine for cancer or an alternative med for AIDS? Why do we import medicines still?.... but as an institute the most important contribution is the students who graduate... most of the garment export houses r sustaining cause our students can innovate new products or can offer new range, every successful retailer in the city has a niftian, every successful stores window is displayed by our students...... so, overall, we contribute to your happiness... other than tht, we r uplifting artisans, heliping self help groups, the chennai corporation logo is designed by us, bsnl wears our design.... from taj to ford we have designed the unifroms. The identity of the city we give as clothing and helping to mutate the city from Madras to Chennai... is it not enough for an institute which is here only for 17 years and has only 10% students from the state (thanks to the stereotypical ideology of parents)? If not, why dont you send your daughter and let her be the changemaker?
