Face(s) of the day, from pictures I have taken. [Guatemala. Backstory: We were staying in a small village in the Guatemalan highlands so that Joanne could do some research on the effects of the civil war on the indigenous Mayan people for her Honor’s paper at Rutgers. We rented a room (see picture) in a small house (see picture) where the only running water was in the sink (see picture) and where the toilet was out the back (see picture). It was simple but liveable, and lucky for us there was one restaurant in the village that opened for lunch, but every day kids would show up to play whenever we were around. I guess we were the living version of television (or radio), but it was enjoyable, as they were. And from time to time I’d take their pictures and so many of the pictures of the Guatemalan women, men and the children are from the various times we spent in this village. But these were some of my daily playmates.
