Face to face. A friend from college once told me how, in grade school, he would undergo astral travel against his wishes and panic at the thought that he may not make it back to his mortal body ( which he could see while hovering over the classroom). Its a bit like looking at your picture of 50 years ago and comparing it to what you now see in the mirror. Two contrasting images and yet you know you are both of them. I concluded that I am neither the guy in the picture nor the person I was staring at in the mirror. I must be the spirit that dwells within a mortal body. I wonder how our soul would look like if we could see it and how being conscious of it allows me to surrender its fate to the care of God. It remains something for us to wonder about until our faith affirms it for us when we leave our mortality behind.
