Faceb**ksters, Do you like horsies? If yes, you are in luck! Because I just finished placing online a gallery of over 200 photos taken over the weekend at Assateague Island –and a great deal of the photographs are views of some of the wild ponies that live on Assateague Island year-round. I was even fortunate enough to come upon a foal and his mother that were still nursing! Both the foal and the mother posed patiently while I moved around them in a very slow circle. Luckily for me, though the tender scene took place on the shoulder of a rather busy road, at that particular time, there were no other vehicles, nor people, in the general vicinity. The foal finished nursing by the time the first carload of tourists noisily arrived at the spot. I must say that I also enjoyed 2-3 major hikes (the shortest one was about two miles) through some of the back country, particularly a couple of treks through the sand dunes that help to hold the island in place. And the single sunset I witnessed was simply unforgettable! See the photos and make up your own mind.
