Facebook Friends, We have been brainstorming a list of creative ways for students and young professionals to earn additional income to support themselves. Do you have any suggestions? Get a part time job at your favorite service or retail business and study their model. What makes them great? Become a paid promotional rep for a brand at a concert or other community event that you would normally pay for. Offer to watch children, pets, or house-sit Sell your art or craft at a local fair or festival Provide a service in your neighborhood (shoveling snow, cutting grass, raking leaves) and ask for a monetary donation If you have an apartment, utilize AirBnB and rent it out when you’re traveling for the holidays Make stuff to sell via platforms like Etsy. Assess different ways to provide real value to a parent or relative in exchange for a donation. Be creative, professional, and over deliver on your proposal. Take time to really think how you can provide VALUE and avoid the pitfall of expecting hand outs from people that love you. Sublet a room in your home or apartment Tutor or give lessons to elementary, middle school, or high school students. This could for specific course work or music De-clutter your life by selling un-needed items on E-Bay or Craigslist Write an E-Book that provides value to a need in your community Develop an E-Course with step by step advice to address a common problem that you have solved in your personal life Sell photos via online platforms like Shutterstock Offer to cook a full meal for friends or family in exchange for a donation. This could be done one time, weekly, monthly, etc. See how feature films or television shows are created by becoming a paid extra (most paid productions are found in major cities, however, there are opportunities in many areas) Create an event that services a need in your community and charge an entrance fee Drive for Uber or Lyft, utilizing your car to connect with members of the community that need transportation Pitch a service to a local, small business to address a need that has gone unnoticed. If necessary, offer to provide your services for free or at a minimal cost for a trial period. Once the trial period ends, show the positive impact your service has provided and negotiate a contract. Utilize Kickstarter to pitch a product or service to your friends. We don’t promote attendees asking for hand outs, however, if you could provide genuine value to people through your product or service, Crowdfunding is a great option.
