Facebook Friends, many of you may have heard or seen the article in the Gainesville Sun and other media outlets regarding one of our UFPD members, Lt. Matt Davis and his family. On Saturday, July 12th, his house was struck by lightning which ultimately caused his house to catch on fire. Fortunately, watchful neighbors were able to assist Lt. Davis’ family to get out of the house before anyone was seriously injured. The damage to the house however was considerable. Lt. Davis and his family have already begun the rebuilding process. The UFPD Community Services is collecting any donations you would like give to help Lt. Davis and his family during this difficult and long process of re-building their home and life. Though gift cards or pre-paid debit cards would be the preferred method for donations, any assistance provided is greatly appreciated and is helpful for this family in need.
