Facebook REJECTS my post - email evidence from the UKs Electoral Commission saying it has been reported as SPAM: I have to warn Scotland in regards to the voting tools - when I went to vote in the EU elections that Mr Farage was part of, there were only pencils to put down my vote. My complaint and it and evidence can be found below: From: Alexander Chafey Date: 3 July 2014 14:01 Subject: Ewa Sobolewska - offences and fraud - 03/07/14 To: XXX Dear Ewa Thank you for your email to the Electoral Commission. The Commission is not responsible for making or amending electoral law so does not have the power to prescribe which writing device should be used. I reiterate the point made by Andrew Scallan in his letter that whether a pen or pencil is used does not affect the likelihood of fraud occurring, as one can be erased and the other can be crossed out. What prevents fraud is the integrity of the process; so, casting a vote in a sealed ballot box which is opened in front of observers, then counted in a transparent way. If you still believe the means of marking a ballot should be prescribed you should contact the Cabinet Office, who make and amend electoral law in the UK. Electoral fraud in the UK is the responsibility of the police to investigate. Every police force has a single point of contact responsible for investigating election offences. Returning Officers and Electoral Registration Officers play a role in looking out for fraud, but they would then refer any allegations to police for investigation. Any members of the public with allegations of electoral fraud should report these to the police. For more information on electoral fraud, read our report, Electoral Fraud in the UK, from January this year. This includes recommendations for future elections. As we only deal with elections within the UK, I am unable to give you information on electoral fraud in the EU in general. However we do administer European Parliamentary elections within the UK. We will be publishing our post-election report later this month which will include information on allegations of electoral fraud from May’s elections. Please let me know if you require any further information. Yours sincerely, Ewa Sobolewska
