Facebook kitty family!!! Ive been sent a request for help and advice!! Please help give some feedback. Hi Hemi!! I really need your help reaching out to the cat community. I am desperate for help for my cat Nala. I found Nala 4 months ago on the busy street outside my house. Nala is 4.5 years old, will be 5 in January. I took her to the vet, who traced her chip. The shelter she was microchipped to contacted her owners numerous times, to no avail. All I know of her history is she spent 2 years at the pound (they said she came to them as a stray) and her previous owners clearly did not love her, so much they left her outside unfed and never reclaimed her. Nala is am extremely skiddish, shy, introvert cat. She is not aggressive whatsoever and had never been aggressive toward humans or my cat Simba. I took her in with the intention of keeping her. My cat Simba would chase her and was very terrorial. After trying for 2 months, I realize Nala was submissive to Simba and hid under the bed from him all the time. I realized this cat needed a stable, consistent, calm home. I knew I would be moving many times in the future and I recognized Nala was such a fragile soul. I spoke with my parents who agreed to take her in. My dad is retired and home most of the day, and my mom works full time. Their house is large and peaceful and cat friendly. Nala is well fed and loved. However, despite Constant efforts of my parents, Nala is still extremely shy. She hides under the bed the majority of the day, and doesnt like being held. Nala runs when you walk toward her and one loud noise or little move and she bolts. I truly believe she was abused in her life. As I said, she is not aggressive. My parents had to cancel her vet appointment because they couldnt get her our from under the bed (treats, food and toys didnt work). Lately she has been going to the bathroom outside of her box throughout the house. Her box is always clean and she still uses it, but will go throughout the house daily. We are at a loss as to what to do for Nala. I believe she has lived a very difficult life and is no doubt an introvert and very skiddish. We all want to make her life a good one from here on out, but have no idea how to make her more happy, more comfortable with affection not in constant fear of the world. If at all possible, please pass this message on to any and all cat pages and people you know, I am desperate for help and opinions! Thank you hemi and Nikki
