Facebook reminds me of early morning Coffee Klatches and Party-Lines, but without the face-to-face and actual voice-chatting camaraderie...anyone remember those? Back in the day, when many women kept house rather than working outside the home, once hubby was off to work, and the kids were off to school, a woman might take a few moments to catch her breath, collect her thoughts, and maybe catch up on the morning gossip with one or more of the other women in the neighborhood over a hot cuppa, before starting in on the busyness of homemaking chores. Sometimes this took place in the backyard while hanging clothes, or perhaps on that newfangled notion, the telephone--with party-lines, where several people could chat at once! What a novel concept! Sometimes, you didnt WANT anyone intercepting your conversation, but it happened occasionally. Facebook is kind of like that...yeah...I think so, anyway...social networking of any brand--I even get to chat with people across the country, across the Pond (in England, especially), and other places around the world! Cant do THAT over the backyard fence! :-D
