Facilitating discussion on Ferguson today. Some thoughts: Yes, in the short-term police reform, de-militarization, civilian accountability of police, training police, community based response to conflict so police do not have to be called in the first place etc. In the long-term, we have to get at inequality, poverty, underfunded schools, lack of meaningful job opportunities, discrimination in housing, work etc based on race and racially biased criminal justice system.
