Fact #3 Women who have had the largest influence on my life. This list is not meant to offend anyone. I could write pages and pages about everyone; however, I’m just going to write about three. This isn’t to say they are better than anyone else, it’s just to honor a few people who truly deserve it and who have truly affected me. 1. My mother, Jerrie Cicerale. My mother has suffered in so many ways, and somehow, through everything, she has persevered. My mother has shown me what true sacrifice is, for she has sacrificed her entire life for the happiness of others: her family, her husband, her children, everyone. My mother has taught me to stand up for what I want, but to be certain that what I want is in the best interest of everyone. My mother has acted as my most severe critic and my most sympathetic supporter. My mother has shown me how to worry for others, by never showing me how she worries for others, which she never stops doing. My mother has taught me who God is. My mother has withstood my selfishness and meanness, and still cares for me, showing me what it is to be a parent, and showing me how I should withstand what those I love can throw at me. My mother has always been honest, and through that, has made honesty a character trait that I honor above everything else, and one that I look for in others. My mother has taught me the importance of family by showing me what it is like to feel as though you have none. My mother has displayed the unexplainable love that one can have for a child that they consider their own. 2. Emily Cicerale. There has been no one who has better tolerated my nonsense; who has attempted time and time again to make me feel better; who has wanted to make me feel better; who has defended my irrationality to others; who has defended my irrationality to myself; who has shed tears on my behalf; who has shed tears because of me; who has sacrificed time, energy, happiness, and everything for me; who was kind when there was no kindness, patient when there was no patience, and loved when there was no love. 3. Lori Woodall. Lori came into my life during a time when I did not want to trust anyone to educate me. And she did that, she did that and much, much more. Aside from what her classes were outlined to teach me, Lori taught me how to value my work, something that anyone who actually knows me, knows that I struggle with to this day. But she helped me understand what I was doing simply by being someone that I wanted to impress. Lori provided me with more opportunities to expand as an artist, and helped me to see the beauty in simplicity, a valuable lesson that I still utilize. But more than all of this, Lori showed me that being a teacher does not stop once the student stops being the student. In fact, that time is just the beginning of something much more wonderful, a connection created out of mutual respect and love. Lori’s mother and I share the same birthday, and until recently, I never knew anyone else who shared it. From what I understand, Lori’s mother is an amazing woman. I do not know this through having met her. I know this through Lori. There are so many others deserving of mention. Megan Woodworth, for being my sister. Raven Spencer, for being a true example of strength. Stasia Johnson, for thanklessly taking care of me while she fights her own battles, and for showing me that no matter who you are, you can be the person you want to be. Kathy Proesel Westermeyer, for continued good advice in all situations, even those directly affecting her. Diana Lanzillotta Bobis, for defining “family.” Felicia Dominguez, for saving my life, and giving me the outlet for a new one. There are so many, and simply because I did not list anyone here, doesn’t mean they didn’t make the list. It just means I didn’t have the words. Responses are only of Women who have influenced YOUR life. If you want to talk to me about mine, send me a personal message. The Men edition will be coming soon.
