Fact Friday: May is Pet Cancer Awareness Month. Did you know that spaying your female pet can help reduce her chances for breast (mammary gland) cancer? Mammary gland cancer in pets can be prevented if they’re spayed early. For dogs, spay before her first heat, and for cats, spay before she turns one year old. In unspayed female dogs, mammary gland tumors are among the most common tumors and 50% are cancerous.
