Fact of the Day: Robert E. Lees wife wrote her husband while he was on campaign in Pennsylvania. She was annoyed that the Northern armies were burying their soldiers in her flower garden. Robert E Lees response was priceless. Let them bury their dead on our soil. They are Americans and we shall honor their blood, even if they are from the other side. .....And so she did just that, even standing outside and praying over the Union dead with the soldiers. And that hallowed ground became Arlington National Cemetery. I never miss the chance to visit Arlington no matter what else I have to do in the capitol city. Honoring our soldiers and their sacrifice is just a small bit of humble appreciation we can do.
