Factors such as the brand or age of the helmet have no association with lower sports related concussions (SRC). Additionally, players with a history of SRC were 2x likely to sustain another compared to a player with no SRC history (McGuine, 2013). This recent research can also translate to motorcycle helmets. Although, there is a mandatory standard with the motorcycle helmets, motorcycle riders and cyclists should still wear a helmet and always be cautious of your surrounding environment and other vehicles!
