Facts not Myths about Jumuiya ya Kaunti za Pwani: Fact 1. This is not the first attempt for Coast Political Leaders to sing the political and development unity song. One good example is in 1947 where our highly respected political ancestor: the late Ronald Gideon Ngala (RIP) helped (through his Coast Unity Agenda) to shape the Coast African Association Fact 2. At no point (take this from me) will our current political Leaders agree to unite. This is both a political impossibility and a nightmare for the region. For some, their dreams are scattered, their visions for the people are pseudo, and their promise to what they want to do is questionable. Fact 3: The unity agenda as they call it, will serve as a shadow to hide political and development incompetence by some political leaders especially those charged with the mandate to manage county resources. While some coastal counties are yearning for good governance, accountable distribution and management of County Resources, as well as development impact highly expected after their Constitution gave them power and resources to manage their affairs, for some it is about them not us even in this agenda. Fact 4: This unity call again has two silent and major political objectives: one, to use the same platform as a tool for national political negotiations and two, help each other (i mean the incumbent leaders) to retain power at all cost. Let the coast people be aware. Fact 5: No matter how well branded the agenda will be, no matter how sweet the architects of this agenda will make it sound, no matter how convincing it is claimed to be, no matter how supportive (as purported to be) to our people at the coast, this agenda is set to collapse immediately after the 2017 polls-this is a fact. Two intertwining factors to premise this-one the big brother (Nairobi) will not allow an emancipated region called Coast; the second factor is internal; called elite greed. The divide and rule already witnessed to give a picture that Coast Political Leaders are not united (some leaders have allowed to be used for selfish gains) will enhance, as well as a probability for some (internally) to be used for wrong reasons. Fact 6: Soon the biggest political beneficiary of this agenda will be known. Lets keep our eyes open.
