Some domestic violence survivors, particularly those with limited resources, become homeless after fleeing an abusive relationship. Shelters are often full to capacity. A lack of affordable housing and housing assistance limits the options available to survivors and their children. Survivors are often faced with the choice of returning to an abusive home, or sleeping on the streets.
