Faculty, Geosciences Institution: Salt Lake Community College Employment Level:Tenured, tenure track Website:https://jobs.slcc.edu Category: Geology/ earth sciences Employment Employment type:Full-time Salary: Not specified Under general supervision, will prepare and teach Geology courses or related engineering courses such as Introduction to Geology, Environmental Geology, Physical Geology, and/or Historical Geology along with geospatial technology courses such as GIS, remote sensing, GPS, or spatial statistics. Faculty member may be assigned to any SLCC location, and may be assigned alternative work schedule. When you are not teaching, you can take advantage of all the activities that Utah is so well-known for; ski during our spring semester, go water rafting during the summer semester, and hike, mountain bike, backpack, or rock climb during our fall semester. Essential Responsibilities and Duties: Effectively prepare and teach courses in engineering offered by the department. This includes, but is not limited to: •Maintaining records of student performance •Developing, revising, distributing and adhering to current course outlines, instructional materials and/or syllabi •Participating in curriculum development and textbook selection at the course and program level •Maintaining regularly scheduled office/consultation hours • Integrating technology, including geospatial technology, into geology courses •Participate in yearly Majors Meetings with other USHEE Geology Departments Minimum Qualifications: Master’s Degree a sub-field of Geology such as Environmental Geology, Physical Geology, Historical Geology or Paleontology from an accredited college or university; Teaching experience in college level earth science at the secondary or collegiate level. Preferred Qualifications: Ph.D.; Professional experience as a geologist; Experience using GIS and remote sensing technology; Knowledge in learning theory, assessment, and online learning All applicants need to apply at our jobsite https://jobs.slcc.edu for consideration.
