Fair Trade Team, Continuing our fight to stop Fast Track and the TPP means we now have to counter the propaganda campaign coming from the U.S. Trade Representatives office and the Pro-TPP corporate media. Coalition partners have some plans to do just that, beginning with two Twitter Storms today, and a special call on Sunday, March 30, with communications specialists from partner organizations, who will share talking points and plans for our counter attack. (And read our share at the end of this message about a friend in Congress whos been named Truthdigger of the week.) FOR NOW: Be sure to join us! (Scroll down for each set of Tweets!) Information about this Sundays call follows the tweets! - AFTER 10:15 a.m. - Join us in tweeting about the new AFL-CIO report: NAFTA at 20. The report (which will be available online after 10:15 a.m. so dont tweet before then) compiles and analyzes existing evidence to evaluate the impact of NAFTA on the working people of the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. It concludes that while NAFTA may have increased trade flows and corporate economic and political power, it also depressed wages, exacerbated inequality, and threatened the public interest and democratic governance. The report concludes with specific recommendations for improving our trade model so that is raises wages and promotes shared prosperity. - STARTING AT NOON - Join us in support of the CWA Welcome to Twitter Party for US Trade Rep Michael Froman, who joined Twitter last Friday. From CWA communications specialist Beth Allen: I guess he thought that pro-Trade Politico chat went so well that he wanted to get in on the fun. Were throwing a twitterwarming party for him! Weve thought up a few tweets, but feel free to create your own. Our plan is to make this a somewhat regular event, so dont use up all your best ideas! Join us starting at noon as we say hello to Mr. Froman and demand that he address our broken trade policies.
