Fair Trade organises awareness programme on cleanliness DEEP MILAN PRADHAN, MIRIK, 13 Aug 2014: Fair Trade, the workers union of Singboli TG today organised an awareness programme on cleanliness and conservation of environment. The union conducted cleanliness drive at various villages within Singboli TG by sprinkling insecticides and bleaching powder. They also made people aware about the importance of staying and keeping their surroundings clean, especially in the wake of dangerous epidemics. Union president Himal Biswa said currently many deadly diseases, such as malaria, dengue and the most recent Japanese encephalitis, have created havoc in many places in North Bengal and have taken many lives in the past few weeks. “Therefore, it is necessary to make the people aware on the importance of staying clean and keeping their villages clean,” he stressed. The union has been conducting similar programmes at other TGs including Manju, Tingling and Marma TG, Biswa added. [the Ech of India]
