Fair skies are expected across the South Plains tonight. Patchy low clouds may develop towards sunrise, mainly off the Caprock. Lows drop into the 50s across the Northern and Western South Plains. 60s are expected elsewhere. Lubbock should drop into the lower to middle 60s. Southerly winds increase overnight up to 20 to 30 mph with higher gusts possible. Mothers Day should be mostly sunny, hot and windy. Highs end up in the lower to middle 90s. Southwest winds become very gusty at 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph possible during the afternoon hours. Dust is expected to develop during the day. Sunday evening will bring an increasing threat for severe thunderstorms after sunset, mainly east of Lubbock. Storms could produce large hail and damaging wind gusts if they develop. Cary Allen KCBD
