Fairbridge has been privileged to be asked to attend the G20 in Brisbane from Monday 10th – Friday 14th November. Elle Banks the Event Manager G20 Innovation Hub: Beyond Business As Usual made the comment: “We think it’s important to have Fairbridge join us as they are recognised as the most recognisable and successful social enterprise operating in WA. We think that it’s important to showcase what you do to not only other states but internationally so that people may learn from the models, outcomes and sustainable relationships you have created throughout all three sectors of government, business and community.” At the G20 we will be involved in the Innovation Hub: Innovation Marketplace. Tuesday 11 – Friday 14 November, 2014. The Innovation Marketplace will be the epicentre of the Hub, where the community can watch, listen and interact with social business innovators. In the spirit of exciting projects in action, 20 organisations from the private, social and public sectors will showcase their innovative processes and practices that create positive community impacts. These organisations include; TOMS Fairbridge Western Australia ItaliaCamp Queensland Globe for G20 180 Studios & Academy for Young Entrepreneurs Queensland Social Enterprise Council Life without Barriers Entekcomm Ability Entperises Common Ground The Difference Incubator Digital Story Tellers Substation 33 & By Equip Start Some Good Impact & Milaana These organizations will be providing engage and interactive displays daily from 10am till 7pm Monday through Thursday and until 4pm on Friday the 14th of November. We will also be involved in the Light Lunch Lecture Series Tuesday 11 – Thursday 13 November, 2014. The Light Lunch Lecture Series, presented by UQ Business School, will be a platform for the wider Brisbane community and invited guests to actively weigh in on the who, what, when and why of social business innovation. Lunch-sized lectures and live debates by industry and youth leaders will hone in on business engagement, impact investing, social enterprise and government policy renewal. Speakers and panellists include representatives from: UQ Business School, ItaliaCamp, Fairbridge, PWC Asku and the Queensland Government. This series will create a stimulating and inclusive forum for discussing an alternative view of business in action and how it can and does really work to improve community wellbeing. The representatives from Fairbridge on the Tuesday Panel will include Dr Angela Carr, manager of the Fairbridge Centre for Social Innovation and Mark Anderson CEO; Wednesday will be Louise Avon Smith representing Fairbridges Corporate partner Bis Industries and Mark Anderson CEO; Thursday panel will include Christine Laird Fairbridges partner from Department of Corrective Services and Mark Anderson CEO. Each night two of the team will be attending the G20 Hub dinners. This is a new and exciting venture for Fairbridge and our partner organisations from Corporate and Government and our aim is to promote the work of Fairbridge and to gain further support.
