Faithfood for the Faithful September 3, 2013 St. Gregory the Great Readings: 1 Thessalonians 5:1-6, 9-11; Psalm 27:1,4,13-14; Luke 4:31-37 Insights: The Devil Trembles before God Bro. Rolan Banting, SOWER The devil exists. He is the enemy of God, not the sinners. The devil’s ultimate desire is to kill, slaughter and destroy (Jn. 10:10a). The naiveté of people on the existence of the devil is very dangerous, as they may place themselves in a battle without protecting themselves. I remember the dialogue of the priest to his lawyer, who claims to be agnostic in the movie, The Exorcism of Emily Rose: “Your unbelief that Satan exists will not save you from him.” In our present age, the devil does not only possess individuals, but the society. The structural sins of mankind give him permission to prevail in our society. That is why the reforms and laws of society do not save mankind from oppression. Only the name of Jesus can drive away the devil. The devil trembles before God (Jm. 2:19). Prayer: In the Name of Jesus, I bind and command all the powers and forces of evil to depart right now, away from us, our homes and our lands. And we thank You, Lord Jesus, for You are a faithful and compassionate God. Amen.
