Fakalofa Atu Melbourne Niue Community. Funding Update: 05/09/2013 VMC (Victoria Multicultural Commission) today have approved our last application for 2013 the "Strengthening Multicultural Communities Grant". VMC have granted three out of five funding applications for the Melbourne Niuean Community. The following Grants: New Language Programme - Vagahau Niue Class - $2800 This will cover our costs for venue, volunteer (tutor), materials, certificates, transport/petrol, food, any excursions and admin. Multicultural Festival & Events - Niue Constitution Celebration - $2500 This will cover, Venue, Advertising & Promotion, props, Transport, entertainment & Food (Pig) & Petrol Strengthening Multicultural Communities - $8,750 This grant allows our community to work together in providing programmes and activities to benefit not just our own community, but the opportunity to introduce our Niue cultural heritage to the wider Pacific and non Pacific communities in Victoria. The project for this grant is to mentor our youth, empower each individual in strengthening and maintaining their Niue identity through events, programmes and activities supported by the Niue Council of Victoria, Niu Vic Darts, Niue Netball Team, and our Niue Ekalesia.
