Fake Bank E-mail Tell-tale signs: Poor Grammar – Often, there are spelling or grammatical errors. Wrong Address – The email is from an address that does not belong to the bank in question. Usually, a bank has a personalized email address; emails from Skye Bank for instance, end with @....bankng. Personal Information – The email usually asks for personal information, such as a password or account number. Unless there was a previous communication, we would not ask for this information via email. Please disregard such e-mails or SMS’ requesting that you divulge your bank account/ transaction, card or mobile phone details to a third party. We will never send you such an e-mail or SMS, or request for your personal details or account information via SMS, e-mail, or any other platform. A sense of urgency – the email may suggest that you will lose your account or have information deleted if you don’t respond. Sometimes, it will include links to websites, which should never be visited.
