Falcons In Cyprus Cup Mix-up The chances of the female national team, Super Falcons participating in this year’s Cyprus Cup appear slim, as Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has tagged the competition ‘an imaginary tournament.’ This much was provided by NFF’s director of competitions, Dr Mohammed Sanusi, who said the Falcons’ participation in the 12-nation invitational competition is uncertain. However, while independent checks revealed that Nigeria was not officially invited for the competition, Sanusi said the national senior female team would not be able to participate because of a busy schedule ahead of the team. “We are not sure the Super Falcons will be able to participate in the 12-nation invitational tournament in Cyprus because of the competitions ahead of the team,” Sanusi stated. The Cyprus Cup is a global invitational tournament for national women teams, in which Banyana Banyana of South Africa played in the tournament last year, and the 2015 edition will hold from March 2 to March 12. The official list of participants for Cyprus Cup 2015 participants shows Group A: Australia, England, Finland, The Netherlands; Group B: Scotland, Canada, Italy, Korea Republic; and Group C: Belgium, Czech Republic, Mexico, New Zealand.
