Fall veggies can start going in this month: You can sow seeds - TopicsExpress

Fall veggies can start going in this month: You can sow seeds for snap beans, lima beans, cruciferous vegetables like broccoli and cabbage, parsley, squash, and even melons. If you’re a cilantro fan, you can plan on sowing seeds within the next several weeks. It bolts in hot weather, but it grows well here in spring and fall. A bonus for our butterfly gardeners: broccoli, arugula and bok choy will bolt if temperatures rise or theyre not harvested quickly enough. When you plant these for fall harvests, if you allow a few to go to seed, you will provide lots of nectar at a time when options are slim for pollinators. You can also save the seed for next year’s spring planting. Don’t forget to add plenty of compost to the soil when you plant, and water regularly to keep the soil moist until seeds germinate. It will be especially important in this heat. Share your garden photos – we’re now on Instagram! We are TexasDiscoveryGardens. All one word.
