Falling in love is great, it’s just that... it doesn’t last. I mean, with a person for instance, why would you fall in love with a person!? You know that person is never going to be the person you want them to be. No matter how much you beat them into submission, they’re never going to be who you want them to be. So... you’re not really falling in love with that person. You’re falling in love with being loved and being seen by them in a certain kind of way and that can never last. But maybe you can become friends, if you’re both motivated enough to go through shit with the person and get down to the nitty gritty. You might become friends and friends are great but to have a real friend, that’s not easy. Male and female, relationship wise, having a friend in life, it’s not an easy thing. Someone who really wants the best for you, that’s a friend and that’s not easy to find. A lot of the time it takes a LOT of work and most of the time it just doesn’t happen, most people just switch partners and so what? It happens. That’s how it happens in western culture, that’s what we do. Relationships are like business, do your business, enjoy! But love, love is what lasts 24 hours a day, it’s who we are. You don’t fall in it, you don’t fall out of it. You don’t get it from somebody else and you don’t give it to somebody else. Love is not between people but love is who we are. Affection, pleasure, relationships, that’s all good stuff but if you expect it to bring real love then you better go through all the shit to get there, because it’s in each of us. But that’s not really what we’re looking for; we’re looking for a hit. You know? We want to be seen with loving eyes. There’s nothing like that when somebody looks at you in that way and we want more and more! We’ll do anything for them to look at us like that again. It’s business because it’s give and take. You give me this and I’ll give you that. Enjoy it but to think that is love is being misled a bit. Krishna Das
