Fallingwater museum built by Frank Lloyd Wright....In the garden at the estate is a statuette sculpture of Rose McClendon....Born Rose Virginia Scott McClendon, (August 27, 1884 – July 12, 1936) was a leading African-American Broadway actress of the 1920s. She started an actors studio and theatre group in Harlem in the twenties... My dear friend Carol Ballantyne visited the museum one rainy day and took this photo of Ms McClendon.....It was pouring as you can witness the raindrops falling on the delicate statue. While I was deciding what to put on my cd cover, I spotted this wonderful shot that Carol took while on her visit. I then asked her for permission to use it on my cd cover and then preceded to contact Fallingwater curator and overseer of the museum and asked permission to use the photo of Rose. He most graciously granted me permission and what you see below is the actual photo of the statuette that stands in the garden of Fallingwater in Mill Run, Pa. Rose McClendon, a 42 cast stone statue executed by Richmond Barthe in 1932, sits adjacent to Fallingwaters canopied walkway connecting the Main House to the guest House. The subject is Rose McClendon, a leading African American Broadway actress of the 1920s and the co-founder of the Negro Peoples Theatre in Harlem.
