Families are under attack today. This is true of earthly families; and of the family of believers in CHRIST. In the case of the family of believers, attacks by people in positions of authority and the media are prevalent. Throughout scripture we were warned that this would happen. There are many answers to the question WHY. One that occurred to me in regards to the family of believers is found in today’s verse. Some people [who profess to be members of the family of believers] are causing dissension in the family by attacking other believers by: changing GOD’S word to fit their own agendas, and not caring for other believers who are hurting. GOD has given us many tools to serve HIM [and our fellow believers], and I believe we will be judged for how well we have used [or not used] them. “But those who don’t care for their relatives, especially those in their own families, have given up their faith. They are worse than someone who doesn’t have faith in THE LORD.” [1 Timothy 5:8] Today as I pray for myself, my family and friends, strangers I may never meet, and our leaders [in churches, our workplaces, the government, and in society]; I am fervently asking our HEAVENLY FATHER to forgive of us who have participated in causing any dissension in the family of believers. I am asking that we [who are true believers] will turn to HIM [instead of worldly authorities] to heal [not only our nation] but our family of believers in CHRIST as well. Healing must start there because that is where the division started when we quit caring about [and for] members of our hurting family of believers.
